Brand
A bolt, held in brackets.
The TechZap bolt is energy. The crop-mark brackets are the lab: the frame you put around something to examine it, measure it and make it real. Together they say what Labs does — take an idea and put it under the light until it ships.
The mark
Built on a 48-unit grid.
Two brackets, each 5 units thick with square ends, sit in opposite corners of a 48 × 48 square. The bolt runs corner to corner between them, so the mark reads on a diagonal — forward and up. Keep clear space of at least one bracket length (14 units) on every side, and never set the mark smaller than 16 px on screen.
The wordmark sets TechZap in Inter Tight Semibold and Labs in Instrument Serif Italic: an engineer’s typeface next to an editor’s, because Labs builds things and writes them down.
- Don’t recolour the brackets Ember or the bolt anything but Ember or the one-colour ink.
- Don’t rotate, outline, add shadows or put the mark on busy photographs.
- Don’t retype the wordmark — use the files below, which are outlined.
Colour
Paper and ink, one signal.
TechZap Labs deliberately avoids the default tech blue. Ember sets it apart from its sister brands — Zaptra’s violet and TechZap’s teal — while Ink and Paper keep the family resemblance.
